Pacquiao-Bradley PPVs
Pacquiao knocked Bradley down twice on April 9 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on his way to a 12-round unanimous decision, his second win over Bradley in three fights.
He has said the fight was his last, he’s retired from boxing and is now on the campaign trail in the Philippines, where the congressman is now running for the Senate.
Meantime,the numbers for his battle with Bradley have been made public and they are not very impressive. While they were not expected to get even a quarter of the 4.4. million Mayweather drew when fighting the Pac Man, they were expected to be higher than the 400,000 to 500,000 they got.
Promoting Pacquiao fight
Bob Arum, the 85-year-old CEO of Top Rank Promotions, and the man who founded Top Rank, said they were not overly surprised. He admitted they had problems promoting the fight but had said in the lead-up to it they expected to get some 700,000 pay-per-view buys.
“It is what it is. It is what it is,” Arum told Ring TV. “That’s all I can say.”
It was the lowest ratings of the three fights between Pacquiao and Bradley, with the first attracting 890,000 PPVs and the second more than 800,000. Arum admitted to media Pacquiao’s anti-gay statements earlier this year made the fight harder to promote.
In February Arum called Pacquiao’s anti-gay statements “reprehensible.”
Live attendance at the Pacquiao-Bradley fight was 14,465.
