Earlier, Mayweather said he isn’t blaming Pacquiao for the delay in the fight negotiations but he continues to blame Arum for getting in the way of the fight.
“We’re trying but its been extremely difficult. I don’t want to point the finger at Pacquiao, it’s not him, it’s his promoter.” Mayweather said.
Echoing Mayweather’s position on the issue, Ariza said no fight will take place between Mayweather and Pacquiao if Arum will continue to represent Pacquiao.
“It’s not going to happen. We’re fighting May 2nd but it’s not going to be Manny Pacquiao… Hopefully eventually Bob Arum will blow away in the wind or whatever. As soon as we get rid of him, we can get it on,” said Ariza.
Mayweather has denied allegations that he is afraid of losing to Pacquiao saying it is Arum who has been putting roadblocks to the ongoing talks.
But Arum and Pacquiao have already agreed to everything that he wanted but up to this time Mayweather has yet to sign the fight contract.
Now Mayweather wants Arum to get out of the way by allowing Pacquiao to negotiate on his own like what he does with his own Mayweather Promotions. But he seems to forgert that Pacquiao has a live contract with Arum which will be binding until 2016.
Fight fans want Arum to test Mayweather’s sincerity by disappearing from his viewfinder and see if he will really sign the fight contract with Pacquiao.
This will be difficult for Arum to do but if he can make an arrangement with a friendly promoter or even Pacquiao’s own MP Promotions in collaboration with a licensed U.S. promoter, the public will find out if indeed Mayweather will sign the fight contract.
This arrangement seems too simplistic because it will require legal issues with regards to the Top Rank-Pacquiao contract but if it will goad Mayweather to honor his commitment to fight Pacquiao on May 2, it would be worth exploring.
If it does not work as Mayweather could come up with another hurdle for Pacquiao, then everyone who has waited more that five years for the fight to happen should now move on and forget about the fight that hey have long wanted to see.
