Op-Ed: Manny Pacquiao sees Floyd Mayweather’s downfall on the horizon

Pacquiao, who is currently training for his upcoming super fight against unbeaten American boxer Floyd Mayweather recently spoke to Philboxing’s Aquiles Z. Zonio about his ability to see if his opponent is scared or nervous.

“By merely looking straight into the eyes of my opponent, I can easily figure out if he is nervous or not,” Pacquiao told Zonio.

Pacquiao must have recalled his previous stare downs with past opponents and what was going on in his mind during their face-offs. Now he can tell if his opponent is nervous or not.

Except his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico, Pacquiao was able to see through his opponent’s eyes and tell if he is nervous.

Pacquiao seems to believe that being nervous is a sign of fear and if his foe is scared,he can turn the fight in his favor by being the aggressor.

In the Marquez fight where he got knocked out seconds before the end of the sixth round, Pacquiao saw hatred instead of fear in Marquez’s eyes.

“I could see in his eyes that he hates me so much for knocking him down thrice during our first encounter and for handing him the defeat in our two succeeding fights,” Pacquiao said.

Asked how he feels about his recent face-off with Mayweather, Pacquiao said he saw fear in Mayweather’s eyes.

“I could see fear in Floyd’s eyes. His downfall looms on the horizon. This coming May 2, God will deliver him into my hands,” Pacquiao said.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao’s positive outlook is replicated in his rigorous training at the Wild Card Gym under Trainer Freddie Roach’s direction.

Pacquiao’s boyhood friend and Assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez could not believe what he is seeing as he noticed sudden change in Pacquiao’s disposition since he started training for the Mayweather fight.

“This is the first time in the many years of my association with him that I saw him this merciless,” Fernandez assured. “In fact, merciless, to me, is an understatement. Ruthless, that’s the right word. Vicious. furious, whatever,“ Fernandez told veteran sportswriter Eddie Alinea. Read more:
