Op-Ed: I’ll be watching the Super Bowl

Even though I’ll be watching, let’s get one thing straight first. I don’t normally watch football during the regular season. I couldn’t care less about player or team stats or their road to the Super Bowl.

Despite that, watching the Super Bowl is a social thing. It’s so much fun sitting on the couch with friends and family watching the game and even talking about what happened. Sometimes, it’s fun seeing what people say about the Super Bowl on Facebook and Twitter, and I watch because I want to be a part of the conversation.

Another reason is the half-time show. This year, Katy Perry will be performing, and I’m excited because she’s a great entertainer and has a bunch of fun, upbeat songs. According to the Bleacher Report, she’ll be performing a 12-minute show featuring a few of her greatest hits.

Here is a clip of some of the props she might be using during her performance.

On top of that, Idina Menzel will be singing the National Anthem, in which she’ll probably just knock everyone’s socks off.

And of course I’ll be watching to see those star-studded commercials. A couple of weeks ago, I did a recap of the commercials we might see during the big game, and some of the commercials seemed entertaining. Plus, there are a bunch of companies I didn’t mention, like Budweiser. Remember this commercial from last year?

I can’t wait to see what they’re doing this year because I know it will be awesome.

Now what about you? Are you going to be watching the Super Bowl? Why or why not?
