McGregor, who hasn’t fought as a boxing pro in his MMA career, has just signed his part of a contract to face Mayweather in his debut as a professional boxer but Mayweather is yet to affix his signature on the same contract.
The proposed boxing fight has generated interest among boxing and MMA fans following a massive awareness campaign by the promoters of both sides to determine how the fight will play out in the pay-per-view (PPV) marketplace.
Because of the immense popularity of both fighters, it appears that the fight will sell but fans aren’t sure at this time if its a fight worth watching from the competitiveness standpoint.
Definitely, Mayweather will be competitive on fight night because he is fighting his own game but McGregor has yet to debut as a professional boxer.
If Mayweather affixes his signature on his part of the contract, boxing experts believe the fight will be a mismatch owing to Mayweather’s high-level skill in boxing against McGregor’s zero experience as a boxing pro.
McGregor is a very popular MMA fighter in the UK and even in the US but fans will realize before parting with their hard-earned money that the fight isn’t worth watching because it is indeed a mismatch which will only benefit Mayweather by grabbing his record 50th win to break Rocky Marciano’s career record.

What McGregor needs to do is to face a worthy professional boxing challenger for his first fight as a pro and let the Mayweather fight marinate for a few months or even up to early next year.
If he is victorious in his boxing debut, he can then brag about his boxing prowess and face Mayweather on equal footing as a boxing pro or he can do another fight until Mayweather is ripe for the taking.
