article imageNY Jets Rumors: Jeremy Maclin top free agent target?

By Larry Seely     Feb 8, 2014 in Sports
New York - After a slow start to the 2013 NFL season, the NY jets played some good football down the stretch and have given the fans some reason for optimism heading into next season.
Rookie quarterback Geno Smith had some growing pains in his first year in the league and the front office will need to add some more play makers to the offense to help out the young signal caller.
Manisha Mehta of the NY Daily News has reported that finding more depth at wide receiver is a priority this off-season and former Philadelphia Eagles wide out Jeremy Maclin is one of the top targets.
The 25 year-old suffered a knee injury in training camp and missed the entire season for the Eagles, but the young man has 26 touchdowns in just 44 career games, plus he can return kicks, making him a duel threat and the type of player that can save a team a roster spot with his versatility.
Bleacher Report has the former first round pick as the top affordable free agent available and while the NY Jets will need to add more talent on defense, finding some skilled players on offense is necessary if this franchise wants to make the NFL Playoffs in 2014.
