article imageNY Giants Rumors: Aqib Talib best free agent option for 2014?

By Larry Seely     Feb 6, 2014 in Sports
New York - The NY Giants are set for a busty off-season as the front office must look for help on both the offensive and defensive lines, but the team also needs help in the secondary, especially playing in the NFC East.
This year has a solid group of free agent corners and despite management not usually going after high priced free agents, things could change this off-season with the team well under the salary cap and a couple higher priced players expected to restructure contracts.
Kevin Bollard has reported that at least one big contract will be added this off-season and one player he suggests could help the franchise rebound from a disastrous 2013 is Aqib Talib.
Despite the 27 year-old being injured in the loss to Denver during the NFL Playoffs, Talib is a physical presence on the edge of the defense and a shut down player in the secondary.
The New England Patriots could still use the franchise tag to retain his services, but if they choose not to use it, the NY Giants should jump at the chance to add perhaps the best man cover corner in the league, helping the defense improve immediately and getting the ball in Eli Manning's hands more often in 2014, something this team must do if they want to win the NFC East next season.
