NHL Trade Rumors: Martin Hanzal to Vancouver Canucks?

Steve Macfarlane of Bleacher Report has compiled a list of players from each hockey team that could be dealt, either now or before the trade deadline and it makes some compelling points. Each club has strengths and weaknesses, no matter how they performed last year and given the right circumstance, two teams or more could come together and make something happen.

Vancouver definitely has a need for players that can put points on the scoreboard. This squad finished near the bottom of the league in most offensive statistical categories last season and despite already adding a couple players, more help is needed for this franchise to contend for a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs this season.

With the start of training camp quickly approaching, several rumors have surfaced in recent weeks on potential moves Benning could make, but with the recent news that Arizona has asked center Martin Hanzal for a list of teams he would play for if moved, could this be a perfect match for both sides?

The 29-year-old is coming off a career year with the Coyotes, scoring 41 points and playing good hockey on both ends of the ice, but not only is this veteran capable of putting the puck in the net, his 6’6″ 230 pound frame is a physical presence this hockey team lacks on the forward line.

A first round pick in 2005, Hanzal has struggled with injuries during his career, but he has played 60+ games in seven of his nine years in the NHL and his ability to help on both ends of the ice would be a big help for a team that suddenly appears old and needs an influx of younger, but experienced talent.
