NHL Rumors: Milan Lucic to Edmonton Oilers?

The Oilers need to change and it starts with the type of player they select to help the young group they have in place. Finding talent on the free agent market that have enough experience, but still plenty of good hockey in their future is a must and this summer could be key in the future of the organization.

Rumors have hit social media on potential targets the front office could land this summer and the latest reports have LA Kings forward Milan Lucic on the teams radar.

The 27-year-old is coming off a solid season in Southern California, scoring 55 points with his attacking style of play. That aggressive type of hockey is whats needed in Edmonton as they have struggled to win with finesse.

ESPN has reported the veteran would like to stay in Los Angeles, but is willing to leave if the money isn’t right and the Oilers are on his list of potential landing spots, despite the issue of winning hockey games.

The former second round draft pick of Boston has been solid since entering the league. With 159 goals and 238 assists in his career, along with nine years of experience, Lucic has everything needed on and off the ice to help any team he signs with this summer.

Edmonton owns the fourth overall pick in the NHL Draft later this month and reports of a possible trade to land some veteran help has surfaced. The Oilers are looking to make some major moves over the next few weeks and landing a big defender, along with signing Lucic, would be a great start to turning this franchise around.
