The 36-year-old hasn’t taken a snap this season and with the team playing terrific football with rookie Dak Prescott at the helm, the latest news is the team will stick with the youngster and that has led to plenty of speculation on social media about what the team does with their veteran.
USA Today Sports has suggested a deal could happen and a list of several teams that could have interest, including the NY Jets who have major problems at the position, despite having a veteran of their own on the squad. Ryan Fitzpatrick continues to turn the ball over and Geno Smith isn’t the answer, despite his high draft status a few years back.
With the media in the city all over the team, adding Romo would at the very least take some pressure off the franchise and possibly give New York a solid short-term solution to their quarterback issues.
Fox Sports has also reported that ‘America’s Team’ could move the former Eastern Illinois star and possibly receive a second round pick in return. The move would also help the salary cap issues in Dallas, allowing the team to use that money on the defense during the off season.
While adding an aging player isn’t always good business, the NY Jets situation is dire as the team is among the oldest in the NFL, especially at the skilled positions with Matt Forte and Brandon Marshall. Going all-in on next year could be the best move this franchise could make and if all goes right, the playoffs could be just the beginning and a great way for this group of stars to finish their careers.
