NFL Trade Rumors: Tony Romo to Denver Broncos?

By Larry Seely     Oct 18, 2016 in Sports
Denver - The NFL trade deadline is just around the corner and for several teams, the next few days could change the outcome of the 2016 season and beyond.
Dallas is one franchise that has some serious questions to answer and the biggest is what will they do with Tony Romo? The veteran is expected to return from his back injury in the next week or two, but with the Cowboys on a roll behind rookie Dak Prescott, do they continue to play the youngster and possibly move the 36-year-old?
Mark Kiszla of The Denver Post has reported Denver doesn't have a shot at winning a Super Bowl this season with Trevor Siemian under center. In fact Kiszla has suggested the team would be better off making a deal now for a veteran quarterback and believes Romo is the man that could help this franchise win another championship.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report also believes Dallas could make a move before the November 1 deadline. If Dallas is serious about trading their veteran, could Siemian be the key to a trade between the two NFL teams?
A close look at the situation and it makes sense. Romo could be the short-term answer general manger John Elway wants and the mentor Paxton Lynch needs. Learning behind one of the games best isn't a bad idea and it takes the pressure off the youngster to be ready now, a role the young man is clearly not ready for at this stage of his career.
With Prescott on fire and having 'America's Team' in the top spot in the NFC East, keeping the rookie on the field — but adding Siemian, who would be a capable backup — could keep harmony in check in Texas and this team on track for the playoffs.
It's not often trades this late in the year work, but this could. It gives Dallas and Denver what they need, not only this season, but also into the future, making this a win-win proposal for both the Cowboys and Broncos.
