article imageNFL Scores: Miami upsets Patriots with late interception

By Larry Seely     Dec 15, 2013 in Sports
Miami - The Miami Dolphins kept their NFL Playoffs hope alive with a 24-20 upset over division rival New England on Sunday, improving to 8-6 on the year and in good shape for an AFC wild card berth.
Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill gave his team the lead with a 14 yard scoring pass to Marcus Thigpen with just 1:15 remaining in the game, but Patriots quarterback Tom Brady used the clock and moved the offense down deep into Miami territory, but an interception on the final play in the end zone sealed the win for the Dolphins.
Tannehill completed 25 of 37 passes for 312 yard and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Mike Wallace had a big game, hauling in six receptions for 105 yards and a score.
Brady had a strong showing as he passed for 364 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receivers Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola both has over 100 yards receiving, but the loss of starting tight end Rob Gronkowski to a knee injury last week really hurt the offense in the red zone as the Patriots settled for two short field goals, ultimately leading to the loss and dropping the Pats to 10-4 on the year and possibly out of the top spot in the AFC.
