article imageNFL's Ray Rice allegedly beat fiancée and is now suspended

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has reportedly been suspended for two games after accusations that he beat his former fiancée Janay Palmer unconscious and dragged her out of an elevator.
Blurry video allegedly shows Rice dragging his fiancée out of the elevator. According to reports this is a snippet of a full video which shows Rice thrashing Palmer inside of the elevator.
After the incident the Baltimore Sun reported that Rice was arrested, charged and released with a summons to return for a later case. Rice reportedly accepted a plea deal despite pleading not guilty. He'll have to spend time in an intervention program and the NFL punishment was separate from this.
Rice himself is quite active in anti-bullying campaigns such as "The Caw". He previously asked kids to take a stand against all forms of bullying both physical and online. By his own account he works with the foundation to save kids like Grace McComas who committed suicide after being bullied online.
Twitter users were nothing short of outraged about the event. Many of them voiced their complaints directly at the organization for not giving him a stricter punishment.
Janay herself ended up taking him back and marrying Rice shortly after the incident. Rice and Palmer have a daughter named Rayven who they are trying to care for together.
Suspension timing means that Rice will be missing the season opener against the Bengals. In addition to other complications he'll miss out on paychecks totaling $705,882. Rice was becoming a top pick with some sports analysts after his performance at camp and in-game.
