While not a big surprise, fans of the team are hitting social media to get a former first round pick back with the team and no it’s not John Elway.
Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow is once again in the news as fans of the team have started an online petition to get the lefty back in camp and battling Sanchez for the starting job.
The 28-year-old tried a comeback last year with the Philadelphia Eagles and while many experts believed he played well enough to earn a roster spot, former head coach Chip Kelly decided otherwise and he was released before the start of the regular season.
Fast forward a few months and while no news of the former Denver quarterback officially looking to play football again, rumors have surfaced and it makes sense with his desire and determination exhibited last summer.
Tebow led the Broncos to the playoffs in 2011 and while his accuracy has been an issue, his leadership and ability to make big plays has never been questioned. Despite a slow throwing motion, interceptions have never been an issue and his mobility might be just what this team needs to feed of the success of last season.
Johnny Manziel is another quarterback that could be signed, but after another off season of trouble with booze and lack of commitment, ‘Johnny Football’ could have partied his way out of the NFL for good.
One thing is clear, Sanchez has never been a go-to professional quarterback and an injury could make 2016 a lost season. Adding Tebow if even for the public relations it would bring the team and the league, might just be the insurance this football team needs in 2016 and a move that would create a buzz with the fans of the game.
