The offense for the Seahawks looked a bit different over the second half of the season with Russell Wilson using the passing game to score points, but when the playoffs rolled around and the team couldn’t control the clock with the ground game, it put too much pressure on the defense and their season fell apart with 30 minutes of bad football against Carolina.
The good news for the team and its fans, help can be found with veteran back Matt Forte and rumors have started on his potential move to the Pacific Northwest.
John Clayton of ESPN has reported that the two sides could have a mutual interest and with the 30-year-old not expecting big money due to his age, it could come down to Seattle and their willingness to lose a potential draft choice if they agree on a deal.
Forte has never been a big yard per carry type back, but with his ability to run between the tackles and his top-notch pass catching skills, Seattle could have perhaps its best duel-threat back in franchise history.
The former second round pick has other options, especially with the NFL becoming more of a scoring league and that could make things interesting when the free agent market opens next month.
Dallas clearly needs help in the back field, but the Cowboys could decide to use the Draft and find help with a younger player. Green Bay is another squad that needs some help with depth and the chance to face his former team twice in a year could become a motivating factor, but for the veteran to finish his career with a good chance at playing for a Super Bowl, Seattle is the best fit and a win-win situation for both parties.
