article imageNFL Rumors: Johnny Manziel headed to Dallas Cowboys in 2016?

By Larry Seely     Dec 13, 2015 in Sports
Dallas - It hasn't been the year the Dallas Cowboys or their fans envisioned and it all can't be blames on the injuries to starting quarterback Tony Romo and with Jerry Jones running the show, changes will happen over the off season.
The latest rumor from Rant Sports has suggested the team could look to add troubled Cleveland Browns signal caller Johnny Manziel before the NFL Draft. With the off field issues, it wouldn't cost more than a mid round pick to acquire the former Texas A&M star and a return to Texas could be just what "Johnny Football" needs to become a star.
Tony Romo will attempt a comeback next season, but if this season proved anything, the veteran is just one hit away from riding the bench once again and this team needs a player that can lead the offense in his absence.
Manziel has shown flashes of his college days in limited opportunities this season, but a move to Dallas and playing behind one of the better offensive lines in the game, could bring back his confidence and give the Cowboys the future starter they will need to succeed over the next decade.
Quarterback isn't the only concern as the team needs more depth at the skilled positions. The latest mock from Walter Football has the front office addressing those needs in the early rounds with players that can spark and offense and put points on the board.
In their latest release, they have Jones and his staff taking perhaps the best wide receiver available in 2016, Laquon Treadwell of Ole' Miss. The youngster has good speed, great hands, and can run terrific routes, but the best news of all is the fact that Dez Bryant would be opposite the young man, limiting what opposing defenses could run at the youngster.
In the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, expect a running back to be added to the roster and Arkansas's Alex Collins is a solid option. The 21-year-old became just the third player in SEC history with three straight 1,000 yard seasons and could be the star of the future for the Dallas Cowboys.
