NFL Rumors: Jermaine Gresham to Cleveland Browns?

With a few quality free agents still available, look for a number of signings before the start of training camps in July and tight end Jermaine Gresham is among those players looking for a new home before the start of the 2015 football season.

One team that has little depth at tight end and could use some help on offense is Cleveland as the team lost its top option in free agency. The Browns did add Rob Housler from Arizona, but with the top four players on the depth chart having just 39 receptions between them last season, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize the franchise needs help.

With questions surrounding the quarterback battle and a lack of skilled position players, the Browns offense needs a spark, especially in the red zone.

Gresham has played five years with the Bengals and earned All Pro honors after two of those seasons, but an injury at the end of the year has caused some concern. Cincinnati hasn’t offered a new contract to their former first round selection and the emergence of youngster Tyler Eifert could mean the team is now looking to go in a new direction.

In five years in the NFL, the 26-year-old has gained nearly 3,000 yards in receiving and scored 24 touchdowns, including five last year when he finished second on the team with 62 receptions.

Off season rumors have had the former Oklahoma Sooners star linked with the Oakland Raiders, but he left the Bay area without a contract and their lose could be a saving grace for the Browns who need a play maker to help whoever plays quarterback this season.
