Reports from CBS Sports link the Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans in possible trade involving Jay Cutler. The 31-year-old has become an enigma in the league and another change of scenery could happen if the latest rumors are true.
Chicago has reportedly shown interest in Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, so much so that trading their veteran signal caller to move up in the first round has become a hot story.
The Titans no doubt need a leader on offense and the addition of a player like Cutler would only help improve the franchise, but the addition of several draft choices from the Bears could set the foundation this team needs to improve quickly.
A deal would likely cost the Bears a first and second round pick this year, plus a possible mid-round pick in 2015 or 2016. With a new head coach now in place, a new quarterback to lead this football team over the next decade isn’t out of the question and making a deal for the second best prospect in this years rookie class isn’t a bad idea.
Chicago has already dealt star wide receiver Brandon Marshall, leading many NFL experts to believe the front office is looking to make changes now and hopefully rebuild in a quick fashion and while this trade might not create a buzz with the fans, it could be the move that leads to long-term success.
Several trade rumors are still to come and the closer it gets to draft day, the more teams will look to see what’s available. This is one trade that could actually benefit both franchises and a deal that could change the history of the league.
