NFL Power Rankings: Updated standings headed into week three

New England just keeps on winning, especially against their rivals in the AFC East. Despite losing young quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, the team held off Miami for a 31-24 victory and a spot on top of the latest power rankings. But it won’t be easy to stay number one as the Patriots host Houston on Thursday night. A win by the Texans will make experts take notice and could put the Texas squad on top after this weekend.

Pittsburgh is another AFC team looking to make some noise this year. Behind veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, this team could challenge for a spot in the Super Bowl. The Steelers are now second in the latest rankings and could secure their spot with a win over Philadelphia in week three.

The Eagles are also 2-0 behind rookie signal caller Carson Wentz and have climber several spots since the regular season began, but they could move into the top-5 with an upset victory on Sunday.

Denver is doing a good job in their attempt to repeat as champions of the NFL, starting the year off 2-0 and showcasing one of the top defenses in the league. The Broncos are now third and climbing in the updated power rankings and beginning to make the experts believe this wasn’t just Peyton Manning leading the way, but a complete team that can beat anyone on any given Sunday.

Seattle made the biggest drop of the week after losing once again to the LA Rams. The Seahawks clearly have issues on the offensive line and can’t win with just a strong defense. Quarterback Russell Wilson is also being effected with an ankle injury, but until this team starts scoring more points, than it will be tough to win more games and battle Arizona for he top spot in the NFC West.
