article imageNFL Power Rankings: Broncos dominate Packers in game of unbeaten

By Larry Seely     Nov 1, 2015 in Sports
Denver - Sunday nights NFL contest between Green Bay and Denver was dominated by the Broncos' strong defense as they held Packers quarterback to a career-low 77 yards passing in a 29-10 victory in the Mile High City.
The game matched the top two defense in points allowed, but it was all Peyton Manning and company as he led his team to 500 yards in total offense. The veteran quarterback finished the contest 21 of 29 for 340 yards, but once again was held without a touchdown pass.
Entering the year most experts believed Denver would challenge the best offenses around the league in points scored, but the defense has played terrific football, leading this team to a 7-0 record and a league-leading 112 points allowed.
Rodgers finished the game 14 of 22 for those 77 yards, but it was the constant pressure and lack of a running game that destroyed any hope of a win on the road. The Packers finished the game with just 167 yards in total offense and their first loss of the year.
The running game for the Broncos was the best its been all year as C.J. Anderson finished with 101 yards on just 14 carries and a touchdown. Ronnie Hillman contributed another 60 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries.
With the win Denver keeps pace with New England, who sits atop the NFL power rankings after week 8. The Broncos made a strong case for the top spot with the quality of their win, but until someone knocks off the Patriots, they will remain in the top spot.
Cincinnati also stayed unbeaten with a comeback victory at Pittsburgh. Unlike in the past, the Bengals found out how to win with quarterback Andy Dalton not having a good game and that could make this a dangerous team come playoff time.
It doesn't get any easier for the Packers as they travel to Carolina to face the undefeated Panthers next Sunday. Denver travels to Indianapolis to face the Colts.
