NFL News and Rumors: Nick Foles to Kansas City Chiefs?

Taken by Philadelphia in the third round back in 2012, the former Arizona Wildcats star burst onto the scene the following year with the Eagles. With 27 touchdown passes and just two interceptions, many believed he would help lead Philly for years to come, but a new head coach and an injury in 2014 and the 27-year-old was dealt to the Rams.

The biggest issue seems to be his mobility and it showed last year in St Louis. With limited time to find open receivers and a downgrade in talent around him, struggles ensued and he soon found himself on the bench. Los Angeles did try and find a trade partner after they took Jarred Goff in the first round this past April, but with no-takers, management had no choice and released the young signal caller earlier this month.

Several teams have been linked with Foles in recent days and while a starting gig is out of the question, there are a number of franchises that are just one injury away from needed a strong quarterback or risk having a miserable football season.

The latest rumor, and one that makes the most sense, has Kansas City showing interest. The Chiefs have limited experience behind veteran Alex Smith, and the head coach was behind drafting the talented signal caller in his days with the Eagles.

A reunion of Andy Reid and Foles makes good sense and with Kansas City favored by many NFL experts to win the AFC West, having a proven QB in the mix could prove beneficial — but the Chiefs aren’t the only team in need of help.

Minnesota just opened training camp and backup Taylor Heinicke arrived in a cast with no timetable set on his return. The Vikings are also contenders for a spot in the playoffs and one hit away from having Shaun Hill as the starter, not exactly the signal caller that brings confidence to a unit, making Foles a prime target for either or these teams as they prepare for the upcoming football season.
