article imageNFL News and Rumors: Miles Austin to Oakland Raiders?

By Larry Seely     Apr 7, 2014 in Sports
Oakland - Oakland Raiders General Manager Reggie McKenzie has made a concerted effort to add some veteran talent to the roster before the start of the 2014 NFL season. Despite some limited success, this team could make more moves before the start of camp.
Rumors have hit social media of a possible signing of former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin. The Raiders signed quarterback Matt Schaub, so adding Austin's experience to the offense makes sense for Oakland.
This team has struggled to play consistent football, especially on offense, but McKenzie is looking to change that trend with a few veterans and more youth being added to the roster through the upcoming draft.
Austin has struggled with leg injuries the past couple of seasons, but when healthy he's a resalable possession receiver and the type of player the Raiders need in the locker room. With plenty of cap space and the need for more leadership. Austin could help in the rebuilding of the Silver and Black.
Last year for the Cowboys, Austin caught 24 passes for 244 yards in 11 games. His best year was in 2009, when he snagged 81 catches and 11 touchdowns.
Another option is Fresno State star Davante Adams. Walterfootball has mocked the youngster as a possible selection in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft and with good hands and the ability to find the end zone, youth could be served for the Raiders if they can't find a veteran in the coming weeks.
