With Romo expected to miss upwards of 12 weeks, news broke today that rookie Dak Prescott will become the teams starting signal caller, not much of a surprise with the way the youngster has played during the preseason, but youngsters usually struggle when the whistle blows and the regular season begins and with no depth behind the former Mississippi State star, rumors of a potential trade have already hit social media.
SB Nation reported earlier this month that Dallas could have interest in Tampa Bay backup Mike Glennon and with the current situation behind center, those rumors could heat up again.
The 26-year-old lost his starting job when the Buccaneers drafted Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, but in his 19 career appearances, the former North Carolina State star threw for over 4,000 yards and 29 touchdowns, not bad numbers considering he played for an offense that struggled with consistency before he took over.
Another good stat in his favor was turnovers as Glennon threw just 15 interceptions in those games, but the one draw-back, his completion percentage is just over 58 percent, a bit below average for a starting NFL quarterback, but with ‘America’s Team’ needing help, he could be just what is needed to get this squad through the first half of the season if Prescott struggles of gets injured himself.
Dallas issued a statement standing behind their young quarterback and with his play they should be optimistic, but insurance is needed and the Bucs’ backup would be a great addition heading into the regular season and with the injury concerns around Romo the last few years, Glennon could become a long-term answer for the football team.
