The biggest drawback for the veteran wide receiver is his age. At 35 years old, teams have trouble committing resources for a player that could be around for just one season, but a look at his stats over the course of his career and more importantly the past three years and it appears he could help whoever decides to sign the former San Francisco 49er.
Charles Lam of Fan Sided has reported that Kansas City could be the best landing spot for one of the toughest men to ever play the position. The Chiefs have limited experience and depth on the outside, in fact, outside of Jeremy Maclin, no other player really strikes fear for opposing defenders and for a team that needs to win now, adding the former second round draft pick could help ignite the passing game and make the franchise the one to beat in the AL West this season.
Boldin finished last year with 69 receptions for 789 yards and four touchdowns, not exactly the numbers of someone off their game and figuring in the fact he played on one of the worst offenses in the NFL and those numbers become even more impressive.
The veteran is clearly not the wide receiver he was ten years ago, but his experience and leadership, both on and off the football field are legendary.
There have been reports this week that New Orleans could also have interest and with their high-powered offense and Drew Brees leading the way it would be difficult to pass if they offered a contract, but with Kansas City he would have an opportunity to perhaps win a Super Bowl and that could be the deciding factor when a final decision is made in the coming days.
