article imageNFL Free Agent Rumors: D'Qwell Jackson to New England Patriots?

By Larry Seely     Mar 1, 2014 in Sports
Boston - D'Qwell jackson was released this past week by the Cleveland browns, a move that saved the team over $4 million, but now has the 30-year-old as an NFL free agent and free to sign with any other team.
Several rumors have hit the Internet this week about the veteran linebacker, but the one that makes the most sense is the former second round draft pick headed to new England.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is known for adding veterans, especially those with something to prove and Jackson has plenty of motivation after his release.
Jackson is excellent against the run, but more importantly for the Pats, he's also good in dropping back into pass coverage and making plays all over the field. The move could be costly for New England in terms of dollars, but adding a Pro Bowl caliber player on defense will only help this team with its goal of winning another Super Bowl.
Teams have less than two weeks before they can sign free agents, but Jackson already has a trip planned for Thursday and speculation has him visiting the Patriots and that has Tom Curran of CSNNE,com believing something is already in place and news of a potential deal could happen in the coming weeks.
