article imageNFL Fantasy Football: Week 6 running back rankings

The injury to Jamaal Charles and the emergence of Todd Gurley are among the top stories in the NFL and for owners looking for advice at running back in week 6, here's a look at the latest player rankings and top match ups for this weekend.
Matt Forte has been mentioned in several trade rumors over the last two weeks, but the veteran back has continued to play good football and that talk should diminish after his Chicago Bears won their second straight game on Sunday. Forte has a solid match up against the Detroit Lions and with his ability in both the run and passing game, a big week is expected.
The biggest surprise through the first five weeks is Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman. The rookie has over 500 all-purpose yards and seven touchdowns through the last three games and until an opposing defense stops the fourth round draft pick, he will rank in the top-3 at his position for the foreseeable future.
After a slow first game against San Francisco, Adrian Peterson has looked more like his old self over the last three games. The veteran has over 300 yards and three touchdowns since that game against San Francisco and coming off a bye week, Peterson is the third ranked running back in week 6.
Owners looking for a "sleeper" this weekend have a couple options. Karlos Williams of Buffalo is expected to get the start against Cincinnati on Sunday and despite playing against a solid Bengals defense, the youngster has a knack for big plays, making him a good risk reward selection.
T.J. Yeldon scored his first career touchdown this past weekend and appears ready to take that next step for the Jacksonville Jaguars. With plenty of touches expected in week 6 against Houston, the rookie back could have a 10-15 points week for fantasy football owners.
