NFL Fantasy Football: Week two running back rankings

David Johnson entered the year as one of the top-5 backs in the league and despite Arizona losing to New England on Sunday night, the youngster had a good effort for the Cardinals. This week he faces a Tampa Bay defense that was very good in rush defense, but poor against the pass. Look for Johnson to get plenty of targets in the passing game and 15-20 points for those owners who have him on their roster in week two.

C.J. Anderson had a terrific opening week against a tough Carolina Panthers defense and this week’s match up against Indianapolis sets up for another strong performance. The Colts defense was terrible in a loss to Detroit on Sunday and won’t improve enough in one weeks time to slow the Broncos down. Look for Anderson to have a monster game, especially with the offense looking to keep Andrew Luck off the field and 15 points or more is likely.

DeVonta Freeman and Adrian Peterson are two of the best running backs in the NFL and both had a poor showing to start the year. Freeman has the best shot at rebounding this week, but Peterson is in trouble with the quarterback troubles in Minnesota and facing a Green Bay defense that allowed just 48 yards in week one, the best showing in the league.

For those fantasy football owners looking for depth or can’t wait to make changes, there are a few options on the waiver wire. Theo Riddick of Detroit is a capable third down back with good speed and terrific hands. This weeks match up against Tennessee isn’t ideal, but he good be a good option down the road and worth a pickup while he’s still available.
