NFL Fantasy Football: Big winners from first week of preseason

Amari Cooper had a big night for the Oakland Raiders and showed why he was the best wide receiver available in the draft. The former Alabama star made a brief appearance in the first quarter, but had three receptions and a three-yard carry in the short time he was on the field.

Cooper isn’t exactly a “sleeper” when it comes to fantasy owners, but he made a big impression and could have a 1,000+ yard season for the silver and black.

The Baltimore Ravens are looking for several young wide receivers to step up and play well, especially if this squad is going to make a run at the playoffs and the biggest winner from this weekend was second-year pro Michael Campanaro.

After playing just four games last season due to injury, the former seventh round draft choice made a big impression with a 45-yard scoring play in the first quarter. Campanaro added another 13-yard reception and was praised for his route running and for a team looking for a solid number two wide out, fantasy football owners should keep a close eye out on how this youngster plays in the remaining three games as he could become a great late round steal.

Ameer Abdullah wasn’t the first running back taken in April, but he was the most impressive in week one of the preseason with a sizzling 45-yard run that reminded Detroit Lions fans of Barry Sanders.

Abdullah is still sitting second on the depth chart, but with more big runs like he has against the NY Jets, fantasy owners will need to take notice of the youngster, especially if looking for a running back in the later rounds.
