article imageNBA Trade Rumors: Kenneth Faried to Toronto Raptors?

By Larry Seely     Aug 1, 2016 in Sports
Toronto - August is here and it's officially the slow time of year for the NBA, but for experts and fans, it's time to take a closer look at rosters and how to add the depth teams need for the 2016-17 season.
Denver has been in the headlines recently with trade rumors. The Nuggets have a logjam in the front court and a depth issue at guard, leading to speculation the front office could make a deal before the start of training camp.
Toronto has the opposite issue with a big need for help in the paint and with the franchise coming off three terrific seasons, many believe they could make a move to stay competitive in the Eastern Conference.
A deal between the two teams is nothing new, several rumors have hit social media over the last twelve months and most have power forward Kenneth Faried as the main target.
The 26-year-old is a rebounding machine, having averaged 8.7 rebounds per game in his career, despite playing an average of less than 30 minutes per contest. The former first round pick is also a decent scorer with most of his points coming off the offensive glass, but that's a need for the Raptors and a reason a trade between the two could happen.
Toronto has been linked with other players recently, including Atlanta big man Paul Millsap, an All Star player that is terrific on both ends of the court. Unlike Faried, Millsap would likely cost the Raptors much of their depth off the bench and at least one first round draft pick.
A deal with Denver would likely see guard Norman Powell, and perhaps a second round pick sent to the Rocky Mountains, a move that would keep Toronto strong on the bench, but a definite upgrade at the power forward position, giving both sides what they need and want heading into the upcoming NBA season.
