article imageNBA Trade Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins to Boston Celtics?

By Larry Seely     Oct 23, 2016 in Sports
Boston - The 2016 NBA season tips off this week and despite most teams going into the year with optimism, it once again appears that trouble is brewing with Sacramento.
The Kings haven't made the playoffs in the last decade and recent reports have Rudy Gay praying he's moved in the near future as he clearly won't be playing for the team next season, but the bigger issue is All Star center DeMarcus Cousins and what to do with the 26-year-old.
This team has drafted four young big men in the last couple of years and that has led to depth issues at other positions. That, along with troubles off the court with coaches and management, leads many to believe the team will trade the young man for a couple good players and at least one first round draft choice.
If Cousins is put on the market, next comes what teams have the resources to make a deal happen and all you need to know is Boston. Not only do the Celtics have some quality young players on their roster, they also have an abundance of draft picks in the next two years and the money under the salary cap to make a big trade.
General manager Danny Ainge has done a good job the last couple years building this team into one of the best in the Eastern Conference. Adding Al Horford was a great move over the summer, but this team still lacks depth in the front court, adding Cousins would elevate that problem.
Horford could move to power forward, leaving the former first round pick to patrol the paint and with his scoring abilities, it would make this one of the best teams in the NBA and give the franchise its first real shot in years at winning a title and if it costs moving a player like Jaylen Brown and two future first round picks, it would be a risk worth taking.
