DeMar DeRozan was the big gun on the night, scoring a game-high 31 points, but former Pelicans point guard Greivis Vasquez scored six points down the stretch to help seal the win.
Despite a poor shooting night, Toronto had four
players score in double figures. Kyle Lowry scored 23 on just 6-18 shooting from the floor and Amir Johnson added 17 points and nine rebounds.
New Orleans was
led by forward Al-Farouq Aminu, who came off the bench to score 19 points and added ten rebounds. Tyreke Evans added 18 points, but the Pelicans were hammered on the glass with a 48-34 disadvantage.
The win
improved the Toronto Raptors to 38-29 for the 2013-14 NBA season, but they must continue to play well, especially on the road as the Bulls and Brooklyn Nets are right on their heels and a first round series at home could be huge for the franchise.
