article imageNBA Scores: Kings upset Rockets behind newly acquired Rudy Gay

By Larry Seely     Dec 15, 2013 in Sports
Sacramento - Rudy Gay is making his presence felt in Sacramento in a positive way as the newly acquired Kings forward scored a game high 26 points to help his new squad pull off an upset over the Houston Rockets on Sunday.
Gay made 10 of 20 shots from the floor, but he also contributed with five rebounds, five assists, and four steals in the 106-91 victory at home.
DeMarcus Cousins had a big game against Dwight Howard, scoring 21 points and grabbing ten rebounds. The Kings outscored Houston in the paint by ten points, but the defensive pressure on the wings and down led was a big change and it paid off in the end.
Houston was led in scoring by James Harden with 25 points, but Howard managed just 13 points and had five turnovers in the contest. Jeremy Lin didn't play for Houston as the point guard had some issues with his back, but the interesting decision was Omer Asik not playing a single minute, despite the troubles of Howard and the team in the paint.
Asik has been mentioned in several trade rumors recently and his lack of time on the court could mean the big man is headed elsewhere in the near future,
The Kings improved to 7-15 for the year, but playing much better basketball with Gay and Derrick Williams now on the roster. Houston dropped to 16-9, but the Rockets have bigger issues as they have struggled to win road games and that could prove costly when the NBA Playoffs role around later in the season.
