Stephen Curry did it again, scoring 46 points on the night. Last year’s MVP hit 15 of 25 shots from the floor, including eight of 13 from three-point range to lead the way. All five starters scored in double figures and the team hit 48 of their 89 shots on the night.
Forward Draymond Green had one of his best games of the year with 23 points, eight rebounds, and 12 assists. Klay Thompson chipped in 15 points and Harrison Barnes added 14, keeping the franchise on top of the power rankings headed into the weekend.
Andrew Wiggins led the way for the Timberwolves with 19 points and first round pick Karl-Anthony Towns had another double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. The loss dropped Minnesota to 4-4 on the year and 0-4 at home this season, not exactly how the experts figured this young team would perform this early in the year.
The big story in the NBA this season is Curry and his start to the season. The 27-year-old is averaging 31.9 points per game and his shooting percentage of over 52 percent is a jaw-dropping stat for a player that takes most of his attempts from beyond 15 feet from the basket.
After a short two game road trip, Golden State returns home on Sunday to face Brooklyn, who has just one win on the year, but follow up that game with a tough test against Toronto and then hit the road to face the LA Clippers, who are now four games behind the Warriors in the Pacific Division.
Minnesota has three of their next four games on the road, including a trip to Indiana on Friday, but continued success away from home for a young team is difficult and for this franchise to challenge for a spot in the NBA Playoffs, they will need to start winning at the Target Center.
