article imageNBA Playoff Scores: Hawks hand Pacers game 1 loss at home

By Larry Seely     Apr 19, 2014 in Sports
Indianapolis - Atlanta struggled down the stretch and barely held off New York for the final spot in the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs, but the Hawks made the most of the first opportunity, shocking top seeded Indiana 101-93 on Saturday.
Jeff Teague played an outstanding basketball game, scoring a game high 28 points and dishing out five assists. The win was big for the Hawks as they won just 14 timers away from home all year, but a strong third quarter was the difference as they outscored Indiana 30-16.
Paul Millsap added 25 points, but it was a definite team effort as all five starters made big contributions on both ends of the court to pull the big upset.
Indiana was led by Paul George who scored a team high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but the bench played poorly, making just 7 of 18 shots from the floor and the team defense of the Pacers was not at the level needed to win a playoff game.
The home teams haven't fared well with Toronto and the LA Clippers also losing their opening game, but with a seven games series in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, all three teams still can get back into the mix with a win in game 2.
