Jeff Teague played an outstanding basketball game, scoring a game high 28 points and dishing out five assists. The win was big for the Hawks as they won just 14 timers away from home all year, but a strong third quarter was the difference as they outscored Indiana 30-16.
Paul Millsap added 25 points, but it was a
definite team effort as all five starters made big contributions on both ends of the court to pull the big upset.
Indiana was led by Paul George who scored a team high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but the bench played poorly, making just 7 of 18 shots from the floor and the team
defense of the Pacers was not at the level needed to win a playoff game.
The home teams haven't fared well with Toronto and the LA Clippers also losing their opening game, but with a seven games series in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, all three teams still can get back into the mix with a win in game 2.
