article imageNBA News: Charlotte Hornets return in 2014 with a new look

By Larry Seely     Dec 22, 2013 in Sports
Charlotte - The Charlotte Bobcats are returning to their roots as the NBA has approved the franchise to change their nickname back to the Hornets beginning next season.
The team entered the league back in 1998, but relocated to New Orleans in 2002. New Orleans changed their name to the Pelicans this season and with a new franchise placed in the Queen City two years ago, the league approved the name change to accommodate the history the city and its fans have with the franchise now that the name is no longer being used.
Hugo the mascot will return, along with a new logo. The color scheme will return to the teal and purple, but the new logo is more menacing and has a sleek and stylish look, unlike the past which looked more like a cartoon character.
The cost for the franchise to change the arena to the new colors and new name is estimated at around $4 million, but with the success of the team this season and the merchandise sells expected with the switch, the owners should make a tidy profit and the fans will be ecstatic to get their team back in Charlotte.
