article imageNBA News and Rumors: Oprah Winfrey to buy LA Clippers?

By Larry Seely     Apr 30, 2014 in Sports
Los Angeles - With the NBA suspending LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life with his recent racial comments, rumors have already started on new potential owners of the team.
ESPN has reported that Oprah Winfrey, David Geffen and Larry Ellison could make a bid for the Southern California franchise with Oprah being just an investor in the purchase.
Geffen made an effort back in 2010 to by a stake in the professional basketball team, but Sterling turned down the $600 million offer. Now the music and movie mogul could get the team with the help of one of the most powerful woman in world.
It was also reported by Geffen that LeBron James turned down an offer from the LA Clippers because of Sterling, stating he wouldn't play for him under any circumstances.
The NBA now could have a tough battle ahead if they move forward with trying to remove the owner from his team, but it would be in the best interest of the league and with such a strong ownership group in place if a deal can be made, the franchise could become one of the strongest in the league and one of the best franchises in sports.
