NBA News and Rumors: Norris Cole to Cleveland Cavaliers?

With Kay Felder the only option behind Kyrie Irving at point guard, speculation on potential moves have started and social media is heating up as the preseason gets started this weekend.

Hoops Rumors have reported the team is looking for a veteran to help in the short-term with Norris Cole the top option on their list of available players. The 27-year-old played in New Orleans last year and had a decent season, averaging 10.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

The former first round pick from Cleveland State would welcome a return to where he played his college ball and the chance to play for a championship. Signing with the Cavs’ would also reunite the backup point guard with LeBron James, who he played with in Miami and that relationship could help make this a smooth transition with training camp having started.

Cole has been linked with Philadelphia and Denver, two sides that need help at the position, but at this stage of his career, the decision will come down to money or a shot to win a ring.

There are a couple of other players also linked with last year’s NBA Champions, including Mario Chalmers, who also played with ‘King” James in Miami. The 30-year-old is coming off a Achilles injury that cost him the last few weeks of last season. The former second round pick has reportedly been cleared to play again, but his age and injury concerns make him more a gamble at this point of his NBA career, despite the success he had with the Heat.

Rumors have hit this squad hard over the summer with Kevin Love being linked in trade talks and the Smith contract fiasco, but with James and the experience of winning last season, the right moves in the coming weeks could make it possible for another title in Cleveland.
