article imageNBA News and Rumors: Jimmer Fredette to Memphis Grizzlies

By Larry Seely     Feb 25, 2014 in Sports
Memphis - The Sacramento Kings are once again proving why they are one of the worst franchises in the NBA. Just one week after the trade deadline, the team is reportedly buying out the contract of Jimmer Fredette, making the young shooting guard a free agent.
While trade rumors on social media had surfaced back in December, the Kings held on to the former first round draft pick and now will get no compensation for the 25-year-old.
Fredette has spent three years in Sacramento and despite signs of improvement when given playing time this season, this franchise once again proved it has no clue on how to develop young talent and no business sense when they could have got another player or possibly a second round draft pick by dealing the former BYU star.
With his pending release, rumors are already buzzing on where he could finish the 2013-14 NBA season. Reports from Yahoo Sports has suggested the Memphis Grizzlies are the front runners to sign the young shooting guard, adding some depth to their bench and adding a player that could still develop into a starter.
This isn't the first time the Kings have had problems getting the most out of a young talented player, but it's good news for Fredette as he now has an opportunity to prove himself with a team willing to work with him and if all goes well, he will resurrect his playing career and prove the Kings and his doubters wrong.
