MLB Trade Rumors: Trevor Bauer to Toronto Blue Jays?

With David Price likely leaving for greener pastures, the Blue Jays will need to add a least one starter to their rotation and with other needs, depth in general on the mound.

The team has a new general manager in place and not a ton of money to add some big name talent, but a trade could land them the pitching they need to make a run at the AL East title next season.

Cleveland is also in need of help as the team has no experience or depth in the outfield, but it does have six quality starting pitchers and that has led to rumors of the two sides getting together and making a move in the coming weeks.

Fox Sports has suggested Trevor Bauer of the Indians could move north of the border for Kevin Pillar, a deal that could help both franchises, not only on the field, but also with payroll.

Bauer was the third overall pick by Arizona in 2011 and while his career hasn’t gone as planned, the former UCLA star did have a solid year in 2015. The 24-year-old went 11-12 last season with a 4.55 ERA, not spectacular, but the kind of numbers that could reach 12-15 wins with they type of offense Toronto would give the youngster on a regular basis.

Pillar made the most of his first full year in the MLB, batting .278 with 12 home runs and 56 RBI. The 26-year-old is finding his form and would give the Indians a good short-term solution to their outfield needs.

These two sides to have some history and not the good kind with Mark Shapiro leaving Cleveland to take the CEO job in Toronto, but if both organizations can get over the past, they could help each other for the future and that’s a start in the right direction for both clubs.
