article imageMLB Rumors: Ervin Santana to Toronto Blue Jays?

By Larry Seely     Mar 9, 2014 in Sports
Toronto - Ervin Santana has changed his mind once again, now the veteran pitcher has decided he wants to sign a contract now and not wait until June and that has a few MLB teams looking at adding the 31-year-old.
After a good year with Kansas City last year, Santana and his agent were looking for a big payday this off-season, but no teams showed interest in paying over $100 million for a four or five year contract.
Last month it was reported that the Dominican Republic star was going to wait until summer, hoping a team would need some help and using his experience to leverage a bigger deal, but now that he wants to sign now, even if for just this season, Fox Sports has reported that the Toronto Blue Jays could have interest.
The Blue Jays are already struggling with injury concerns and were in need of help before Spring Training started. It would cost whatever teams that signs the starting pitcher a first round draft choice, a high price for just one year of service, but for the Jays who are in need of depth in their starting rotation, it might be wise to sign the veteran now and use the upcoming MLB season to workout a long-term deal.
