MLB Rumors: Yoenis Cespedes to LA Angels?

Cody Williams of Fans Sided is just one of several baseball experts that believes the team will need to add a big bat to their lineup and NY Mets Yoenis Cespedes, could just be the player they need.

The 30-year-old Cuban has played four years in the league and during that time has shown power, a solid glove in the field, and a big arm. That combination is rare and a major upgrade over the talent they have now in left field.

With 35 homers and 105 RBIs splitting time between New York and Detroit in 2015, those numbers will lead to a big-money free agent contract and Los Angeles is one of the few franchises that can afford to take on another big money player.

Cespedes has hit 106 career home runs, driven in 367 runs, and has another 145 extra base hits in his short career and with age not a factor, it appears a five-year contract is in order. Angles owner Artie Moreno loves flashy players, especially ones that can produce and for a franchise that made a late season run at the playoffs, just to miss out by a single game, landing a quality bat with post season experience would give them a much better shot at making up that game next season.

There’s a few other MLB teams that will make a run at the right-hand power hitter, including the NY Yankees and possibly the Baltimore Orioles. Moreno, however, has done well in signing players he really wants and with his franchise needing to make a run now at a championship, don’t be surprised to see Cespedes in red next year and playing next to Trout in the outfield.
