article imageMeat shop creates Skittles sausage in honor of Seahawks

By Matthew Hendricks     Jan 25, 2014 in Sports
A Seattle butcher is offering 'Beast Mode! Hot Skittles Sausage', a spicy pork sausage infused with Marshawn Lynch’s favorite sideline treat, Skittles.
According to Usatoday.com, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch loves Skittles, and now, a Seattle butcher has taken Skittles and combined them with sausage in one of the most unholy marriages in the history of food. You can view the process of the Skittles sausage making here, complete with photographs.
Upi.com reports that Evan Greco and Tommy Marshall, the owners of Blue Max Meats in Puyallup, said the "Beast Mode Hot Skittles Sausage" is a tribute to Lynch. The sausage is made by adding 3 pounds of Skittles to 25 pounds of double-ground spicy pork sausage. The smoking process dissolves the Skittles, leaving no visual trace of the candy in the finished product, but you can taste the rainbow.
Thenewstribune.com reports the smoked sausage links sell for $4.99 a pound. It’s made in small batches, about 25 pounds at a time. They’ve already sold out once this week. The Beast Mode sausage will be made up until Super Bowl weekend.
