Mayweather not worried about southpaw fighters

One of the reported reasons why it took Mayweather so long to accept Pacquiao’s challenge is the fact that the Filipino star is a left-handed or a southpaw fighter.

Now he is denying that the report isn’t true because he has in fact fought eight southpaw fighters and he has not lost to any one of them.

“I’ fought eight southpaw fighters and I’m still undefeated,” Mayweather told Boxing Scene.

Mayweather has reportedly start sparring sessions with former foe Zab Judah, a southpaw and another former opponent DeMarcus Corley, likewise a southpaw.

Judah, who lost to Mayweather via a unanimous decision in 2006, is one of the better southpaws Mayweather fought in his pro career.

Among the southpaws Mayweather fought, Judah was the most competitive as he appeared to have knocked down Mayweather in the second round of their fight almost 10 years ago.

Other that Judah and Corley, Mayweather has not divulged the names of his new sparring partners.

Earlier, Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach said that Mayweather’s camp had offered Pacquiao’s chosen sparring partners bigger fees to woo them to his side.

Both fighters appeared in a press conference at the Nokia Center in Los Angeles early this week to promote the fight, although it doesn’t need anymore promotional efforts because of the demand the fight has created over the last five years.

Both fighters have promised fans a good fight on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
