In his mostly exclusive interviews with FtyteHype‘s Ben Thompson, Mayweather said he’s treating his fight against Pacquiao as nothing special, saying it is just another fight.
The unbeaten champ is confident of scoring another victory primarily because of his advantage in reach and height. He also claims that he is more powerful than Pacquiao and more accurate with his punches.
“To me, it’s just another day. It’s just another fight. I mean, when you just look at the tale of the tape, I have a longer reach, I’m taller, I’m stronger, and I’m more accurate,” said Mayweather, set to start formal training on Monday.
Mayweather stands 5’8″ with a reach of 72″ while Pacquiao‘s height is 5’6.5″ with a reach of 67.” For more details about the fighters’ record, please click the links in this paragraph (Mayweather or Pacquiao)
But he also admitted that he cannot overlook Pacquiao and can’t take him for granted as anything can happen during the fight.
“He may not be the same fighter, but this is a guy that I cannot overlook. He got here somehow and some way. You never take nothing for granted because anything can happen,” Mayweather added.
Pacquiao has started light training in his own Gyms in General Santos City and in Manila ahead of Mayweather. He will connect with longtime trainer Freddie Roach on March 9 when the seven-time Trainer of the Year returns from Macau, China after working the corner of his fighter Zou Shiming, who is aiming for his first world title on March 8.
