Magsayo was the aggressor in the first two rounds as he landed a big uppercut and a right hand that stunned Avalos who barely survived the round.
But as round three began, Magsayo slipped near his corner on a wet portion. Suddenly Avalos landed big hook that put Magsayo down but the unbeaten Bohol native rises and survived the round on shaky legs.
In round four, Magsayo still looked shaken but fought Avalos despite what could have been an injury caused by slippery floor even before he was knocked down by Avalos.
Magsayo must have recovered quickly from the earlier knockdown as he attacked Avalos without letup in round five that almost put the 26-year-old Lancaster native down before the end of the round.
In the sixth round Magsayo put the finishing touches to win via TKO.
It was a good test fight for Magsayo, who has only 13 pro fights to his credit compared to Avalos record of 30 pro fights with four losses.
With the win, Magsayo preserved his unbeaten record (14-0) while Avalos dropped to 26-5-0.
