Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao is set to fly to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Nov. 5 to lead his Mahindra Enforcers PBA team in the 2015 Philippine Cup on Nov. 6-7 at the Al Wasl Sports Club.
Three selected Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) teams will participate in the Dubai competition which include the Mahindra Enforcers (formerly KIA Sorento), Barangay Genebra and Alaska Aces.
Pacquiao, who visited UAE early this month to lend support to Filipino boxers competing in the Olympic qualifiers, will be coaching his team.
Before the start of the game on Nov. 6, Pacquiao will inaugurate the GO Sport Megastore in the Mall Of The Emirates in Dubai on Nov. 5. The store is reported to be the biggest of its kind in the world.
The two-day tournament is expected to be blockbuster event for the selected PBA teams with UAE-based Filipino overseas workers as well as UAE basketball fans supporting their individual teams.
Pacquiao, who has just filed his Certificate of Candidacy for a senate seat in the upcoming Philippine elections in May next year, is expected to start training late this year for his next fight.
Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum has shortlisted four possible opponents for the eight-division world titlist. They include Amir Khan, Terence Crawford, Kell Brook and Juan Manuel Marquez.
Pacquiao was in New York last week to receive the "2015 Game Changer of the Year" award from the Asia Society at the United Nations Headquarters.
The weekend event is being organised by the Clique Events CO, the Official Overseas Game Organizer of the PBA in UAE, in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, and dU as the main presenter.
