Manny Pacquiao running out of opponents again

Crawford (26-0-0, 18 KOs), who is the current WBO Light Welterweight champion, is staking his title against Jean (29-1-0, 20 KOs), a Haitian-Canadian boxer and the current NABF lightweight titleholder.

Earlier, Arum prepared a list of possible opponents for Pacquiao to choose from when he returns to the ring early next year, following his loss to Floyd Mayweather last May.

The list includes Amir Khan, Kell Brook, Terence Crawford, Lucas Matthhysse and Juan Manuel Marquez.

From this list, Khan has announced he will no longer pursue an fight with Pacquiao. Matthysse lost in his fight against Victor Postol last Oct. 3 while Juan Manuel Marquez could not commit because of his recurring knee injury.

This leaves Pacquiao a choice between Kell Brook and Terence Crawford. A loss by Crawford against Jean on Saturday would leave Pacquiao with only Brook remaining in the list.

After Saturday’s fight between Crawford and Jean, the longtime Pacquiao promoter is expected to come up with a new list which may no longer include Crawford if he is defeated by Jean.

There are reports that Brandon Rios and Timothy Bradley are interested in a rematch with Pacquiao but Arum has yet to yet to confirm if there are ongoing talks.

Bradley and Rios are set to face each other on Nov. 7 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Aside from Pacquiao, Arum also promotes Bradley and Rios.

Pacquiao is set to start training before the end of the year for his next fight which will take place early next year probably in Las Vegas, Nev.
