article imageManny Pacquiao confident of victory in rematch with Bradley

Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao is confident he will regain his WBO welterweight title when he squares off with Palm Springs boxing sensation Timothy Bradley on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Speaking to media before boarding a regular Philippine Airlines flight to Los Angeles for the kickoff ceremonies of their two-day press tour at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Pacquiao said he wants to regain his WBO welterweight belt which Bradley took from him in their highly controversial fight almost two years ago.
"We will start preparing early. Like the Rios fight, this is also an important fight because I want to regain the crown that was "stolen" from me almost two years ago," Pacquiao said
Pacquiao lost his WBO title to Bradley after two of the three-man judging panel scored the fight in favor of Bradley while the third judge gave it to Pacquiao. All scores were identical at 115-113 with one judge giving Pacquiao the edge.
Because of the controversy, a five-man panel was constituted to review the video of the fight and after going over it round-by-round, they all voted in favor of Pacquiao as the rightful winner.
A group of 56 sportswriters and broadcasters were also asked to disclose their scores after watching the fight and 53 voted for Pacquiao and three for Bradley.
“Everybody, or almost everybody, anyway, knows I won that fight, and although I accepted the controversial verdict, it would be better if we can prove that the judges made a mistake with their decision of 'robbing', not only me but the entire boxing world, of a victory,” Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao, an avid basketball and NBA fan who roots for the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, will fly to New York immediately after the press tour kick off ceremonies in Los Angeles to watch the New York Knicks and the Portland Trail Blazers at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 5.
