Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum is saying a Pacquiao-Khan fight is possible in Dubai early next year.
“I just had a delegation in from Dubai trying to talk to me about a Manny Pacquiao fight some time early next year in Dubai,” said Arum, who is not giving up on a possible Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch.
“One of the names they suggested as an opponent is Amir Khan. That would be a possibility. We’ll have to see. I would think that Manny, if everything goes right with the surgery, would look to be back in early 2016, maybe in Dubai. I don’t want to rush him,” Arum added.
While promoting his documentary film in Los Angeles prior to his meeting with Mayweather in Miami early this year, Pacquiao made a side trip to London on invitation from Prince Harry.
After the Royal visit, Pacquiao talked to Khan and they discussed the possibility of staging a fight there.
“It was great seeing Manny again as it’s been a while since we last met up,” Khan said. “He’s a good friend and we chatted about the past when we were training together, his visit to London and also a bit about the future.
Pacquiao and Khan had previously trained together in the Philippines under Freddie Roach and they maintained a cordial relationship as the prepare for their respective upcoming fights then.
Khan is set to face Chris Algieri on May 29 and if he wins, there is a big chance they will face each other either in London or in Dubai next year.
