L.A. King’s Jarret Stoll arrested on suspicion of drug possession

Stoll was taken into custody in a complex at the MGM Grand Hotel called the Wet Republic pool, which features pools and parties and live music. Las Vegas police say the 32-year-old NHL veteran was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine and ecstasy, also referred to as MDMA.

A reporter with the Orange County Register, Rich Hammond, reports Stoll was released on $5,000 bail and will appear in a Las Vegas courtroom on Saturday. He has not been formally charged.

The NHL did not release a statement on Stoll’s arrest, but the Kings did.

“We are aware of police reports out of Clark County, Nevada regarding Jarret Stoll,” the Kings said on their website. “Our organization is concerned and has begun conducting a thorough internal investigation. While we continue to actively gather facts, we are withholding further comment at this time.”

Stoll is a pending unrestricted free-agent who has been with the Kings for seven seasons. Prior to that he was an Edmonton Oiler for four seasons. He’s played 792 games in the NHL, scoring 140 goals and 239 for 379 points. He’s won two Stanley Cups, both with the Kings. The Kings did not make the playoffs this season.

He is also known for charity work and every summer hosts a charity golf tournament in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, near his home town of Melville. The money goes to the Jarret Stoll Royal University Hospital Patient Comfort fund for children and their families.
